DisEmpire
. . . is awareness of our connection to the past. . .
In all of its complexities.
As we barely remember a time before nations, rulers, and armies, we cannot conceive of a time before the myths that fueled them.
Today, surrounded by the artifacts of capitalism and empire, there is meaning in the objects we value or let pass away.
We search for beauty, and with discerning eye, find that it is everywhere.
Any object can be a treasure depending on whose hands have held it . . .
Where it was created . . .
When it was stolen . . .
When it was taken back . . .
Or when it was returned.
DisEmpire seeks and celebrates beautiful things, with an intentionality derived from history’s erasures.
For truly, beauty is a right of all descendants of empire.
